Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Seed to Serve LA.

What does Seed to Serve LA do?

We bring healthy, wholesome meals directly to families living in unstable housing across Southern California — people who have a roof but no kitchen to cook in. We also plan to build accessible recreational spaces and soccer fields for local communities.

When is the next feeding event?

Our next event is Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Union Station Homeless Services — see our Events page for details. Our first event was April 4, 2026 — we served 86 meals at Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena. Follow us on Instagram @seedtoservela for updates.

Is Seed to Serve LA a 501(c)(3)?

Yes — Seed to Serve LA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

How are donations used?

Approximately 50% goes to food and ingredients, 20% to cooking supplies, 20% to transportation, and 10% to operations. We publish a full breakdown on our donate page.

How can I volunteer?

Visit our Events & Volunteer page to sign up. Kitchen volunteers work from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and serving volunteers commit to a minimum of 1 hour. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No professional experience is required — just a willingness to help.

Where do you operate?

We currently serve families in the Los Angeles area, with plans to expand across Southern California.

Are there allergen considerations at events?

Our meals may contain common allergens including dairy, gluten, nuts, and other ingredients. We label all meals with ingredient and allergen information. Attendees with food allergies should review meal labels before consuming. Seed to Serve LA is not liable for allergic reactions.
