On October 9 and 10, 2026, more than 30 volunteers sorted, bagged and handed out 400 bags of fresh produce at Interwoven Church in Eagle Rock. That is 7,000 pounds of fruit and vegetables, more than we handed out at our first two giveaways put together. It was our third produce giveaway, and our biggest load yet: enough to fill a 24 foot truck.

A Truck Instead of a Van

Two weeks earlier the van was packed floor to ceiling. This time we rented a 24 foot truck and filled that instead.

Thursday started at Hollywood Food Coalition in Glassell Park, with flats of organic raspberries. On Friday we collected from the Social Justice Learning Institute in Inglewood and from Seeds of Hope, loading whole pallets into the truck.

Friday: Unload, Sort, Bag

By Friday afternoon the truck was at Interwoven. Volunteers unloaded it box by box, sorted everything by hand and packed the bags, so every bag got looked at before it went out.

By the evening the hall was lined with rows of full bags, ready for the morning.

Saturday: The Drive Through

Saturday ran as a drive through again. Cars came in from Addison Way, volunteers in yellow vests loaded bags straight into each car, and cars left on Laverna Avenue.

What Was In The Bags

Raspberries, dragon fruit, sugar snap peas, lettuce, bell peppers and pineapples. Whatever came off the pallets that week went into the bags.

Where It Came From

The produce came from Hollywood Food Coalition, the Social Justice Learning Institute and Seeds of Hope. Not one dollar of it was bought.

Thank You

To Interwoven Church for hosting us again, and for the space to hold a full truck of produce overnight.

To Hollywood Food Coalition, the Social Justice Learning Institute and Seeds of Hope for the food.

And to every volunteer who gave up a Friday or a Saturday, or both.
