Community Produce Giveaway in San Marino

Come take home fresh produce, free.

There is no cost, no paperwork, and no appointment. You do not need to prove anything or sign anything. Walk up during the three hours we are open, take what your family will use, and go. All are welcome.

Bring a bag or a box if you can. Sturdy reusable bags work best, and we will have some on hand for anyone who needs one.

What to Expect

Produce is donated, so the exact mix changes with the season and with what our partners have on hand that week. Past pickups have included pineapples, mangoes, apples, citrus, squash, cucumbers, and leafy greens.

Everything is offered first come, first served, while supplies last. If you can come earlier in the window, you will see the fullest selection.

Why We’re Doing This

Our first three events were cooked meals, and we made 286 of them between April and June. Produce is a different kind of help. A hot meal solves tonight. A box of produce goes home and gets cooked by the family that chose it, on their own schedule, in their own kitchen.

For families in unstable housing, that second thing is not always possible, which is why the cooked meals continue. But for the many families in the San Gabriel Valley who have a kitchen and a tight grocery budget, produce is the most useful thing we can put in their hands.

This is our first produce distribution, and San Marino puts us minutes from the Pasadena neighborhoods where our team grew up and where we intend to keep working.

Before You Take Produce

All donated produce is distributed as is. Please read our Food Donation Distribution Policy, which explains the limits of our liability as a distributor of donated food. A copy of the notice will also be posted at the distribution table on the day of the event.

Please inspect anything you take, wash it before eating, and use your own judgment about what is good for your family.
